PANDORA - cleaning and care

PANDORA - cleaning and care

If you are a PANDORA jewellery lover, you must have already thought about how to maintain and clean your treasures. We have prepared information and procedures for you on how to clean a PANDORA bracelet and jewellery made of various materials so that they make you happy for as long as possible.

PANDORA silver jewellery

A simple and safe way to clean silver jewellery at home is to use a PANDORA's special set with a cleaning solution, a brush and a cloth. As long as you follow the instructions on the package, your jewellery will clean perfectly without any damage.

Alternatives to this special cleaning solution are also products that are commonly found in every household. We recommend, for example, a bath in lukewarm soapy water.

Approach:

1, remove the charms from the bracelet and soak each piece of it in soapy water for a few minutes to loosen the dirt

2, use a soft sponge or a soft brush to reach even hard-to-reach places

3, rinse and dry the jewellery thoroughly

4, if necessary, use a soft cotton or microfiber cloth to polish

In case of greater contamination, we recommend using specially impregnated cloths for silver, which you can find in jewellery stores, drugstores, or stores with household goods. Clean the jewellery, rinse, dry and finally polish it with a cloth.

Ultrasonic cleaning is the ideal choice for cleaning hard-to-reach places. For the best result, we recommend entrusting ultrasonic cleaning to professionals. In the case of jewellery with embedded stones, they can check whether the ultrasonic waves have loosened their attachment. This will prevent possible loss of the stone. A big advantage of cleaning at professionals is that they use polishes that will remove surface scratches and jewellery will look almost new.

Important Notice! Never use liquid silver cleaners other than the original PANDORA one. You could thus remove the patina that gives the jewellery its characteristic appearance. An ugly whitish-yellow coating will then remain on the surface.

If you accidentally dip your jewellery in the wrong cleaning solution, don't despair. A professional can restore the patina on jewellery. However, home remedies will not help you in this case.

The oxidation of silver is natural

PANDORA does not use rhodium plating on silver jewellery. This emphasizes the natural beauty and color of the silver. The advantage of silver jewellery without surface treatment is the possibility of using a patina, which underlines fine details. Silver that is not surface-treated with rhodium is more susceptible to oxidation.

Oxidation is a natural feature of silver. It means that the silver reacts with the air and causes the typical blackening of the jewellery. Oxidation can also be accelerated by reaction with sweat. It often happens that jewellery that you normally wear suddenly turns black. This can be caused by a change in the composition of sweat due to illness or medication.
